What we fix

Most Broken Dentures Can Be Repaired. Including Yours.

Before you assume the worst, know this: the majority of dentures we see (even ones broken in two) are repairable. What matters most is that you bring in all the fragments and don’t try to fix it at home first.

  • If your denture is very old, has been repaired many times, or the fit has changed a lot from bone loss, a repair may not be the right long-term answer. We’ll tell you honestly — and explain why. See all Denture Services

What it costs

How much does a denture repair cost?

We’re upfront about this, because most clinics aren’t. The honest answer is: it depends on the damage — but we can give you a clear number after a quick assessment, and we always confirm pricing before any work begins.

Type of damage

A single cracked tooth is far less involved than a full break through the base.

Complexity of the repair

Simple bonding versus a structural rebuild take different time and materials.

Same-day vs. lab-out

In-house repairs are often more efficient — and cost-competitive — than clinics that outsource.

Whether a reline is needed

If fit is part of the problem, a reline may be recommended alongside the repair.

Is it covered by insurance?

Many extended health plans include denture-repair coverage — though it varies. Alberta residents may also be eligible through the Alberta Seniors Benefit program. Call your provider ahead of your visit, and our team can help clarify what documentation you’ll need.

The timeline

What Happens When You Bring Your Denture In

Most patients are surprised by how straightforward — and fast — the process is. Here’s what to expect from the moment you walk in.

Will I have to go without my teeth?

For most same-day repairs, no. You bring your denture in, and in the majority of cases, you leave wearing it. If a repair is more complex and requires overnight work, we’ll let you know upfront before you make any decisions.

Do I need an appointment?

We always recommend calling ahead so we can prepare — but we understand dentures don’t break on a schedule. Call us at [Phone Number] and we’ll do our best to see you as soon as possible.

The Repair Process

  • Step 1: Assessment We examine the damage, assess the structural integrity of the appliance, and determine the best repair approach. We'll also check whether the fit is contributing to the problem.
  • Step 2: Same-Day Lab Repair (Most Cases) Because we have a fully equipped lab on-site, most repairs don't leave the building. Our denturist works directly with the lab — no third-party shipping, no multi-day waits. Most repairs are completed while you wait or within the same day.
  • Step 3: Fitting and Quality Check Before you leave, we ensure the repair is solid, the bite is correct, and the denture is comfortable. We don't hand it back over the counter — we check it properly.
  • Step 4: Guidance Going Forward If there's an underlying issue — fit, bite, or material wear — we'll explain it clearly and discuss your options, whether that's a reline, an adjustment, or planning ahead for a replacement.

Emergency Denture Repairs

Broken denture? Don’t wait until next week.

A broken denture isn’t a “schedule it when it’s convenient” situation — especially if it’s your only set. Eating, speaking, and everyday confidence depend on it. Our on-site lab means we can handle urgent repairs the same day, in most cases. Call us first. Don’t improvise. Don’t wait.

Repair vs. replace

When a repair isn’t the right answer

We’ll always tell you when it is — and when it isn’t. Some dentures reach a point where repeated repairs cost more and work less well than starting fresh. An honest assessment matters more to us than billing another repair.

Repair

A repair makes sense when…

The damage is isolated — a crack, chip, or broken tooth

The denture fits well overall

The base material is still structurally sound

The break is recent and all the pieces are intact

Replacement

Replacement may be better when…

Teeth significantly worn, base cracked, or relined 2–3 times already

The denture is 7–10+ years old

You’ve had multiple repairs in a short period

The fit has changed significantly

Bone loss has altered the jaw shape substantially

The bite is consistently uneven despite adjustments

  • Not sure which category you’re in? That’s exactly what an assessment is for. We’d rather spend 20 minutes explaining your options than have you invest in a repair that won’t last. See all Denture Services

Know the difference

Repair, reline, or adjustment — what’s the difference?

These three services often get confused — and that confusion leads to patients either under-treating or over-investing. Many people need more than one at the same time.

Fixes damage

Denture repair

Addresses physical damage — cracks, chips, breaks, or broken teeth. The appliance itself is being restored.

  • When the denture is broken

Updates fit

Denture reline

Updates the base of the denture to match changes in your gum and bone shape. It’s not about damage — it’s about fit.

  • When it keeps feeling loose

Quick tune-up

Denture adjustment

A minor modification — easing pressure points, smoothing an irritating edge, or correcting a slightly-off bite.

  • When one spot is sore or rubbing

Why breaks happen

Why Do Dentures Break? (It’s Usually Not What You Think)

Most patients assume they did something wrong. They didn’t. Denture damage is normal — and often inevitable — for reasons that have nothing to do with how carefully you handle them.

If your denture keeps breaking in the same place, the real problem is usually fit or bite — not bad luck. Fixing the underlying cause is the only lasting solution.

Common questions

What people usually ask us

Can a denture be repaired more than once?

Yes — dentures can be repaired multiple times, depending on the type of damage and the overall condition of the appliance. That said, repeated breaks in the same spot often signal an underlying fit or bite issue that a repair alone won't resolve. We'll flag it if we see it.

What if I lost a piece of my broken denture?

Bring in what you have. Depending on the size and location of the missing fragment, a repair may still be possible. The more pieces you save, the better the outcome — but a small missing chip doesn't automatically mean the denture is lost.

Can you repair a partial denture as well as a full denture?

Yes — we repair both. Partial dentures have extra components, like metal clasps and frameworks, that need specific expertise. Bring it in and we'll assess what's involved.

My denture feels loose — is that a repair or an adjustment?

Looseness is usually a fit issue, not damage. It may need a reline (if your gum or bone shape has changed) or an adjustment (if a pressure point or clasp is making it shift). An assessment will tell us which applies.

How do I know if my crack is serious?

All cracks are worth having assessed professionally. What looks like a surface scratch can extend through the base and worsen quickly under daily chewing pressure. When in doubt, come in — assessments are straightforward.

Can I eat normally after a denture repair?

In most cases, yes — especially for same-day repairs. We'll let you know if there are any short-term precautions based on the specific repair we performed.

What's the difference between a repair and a reline?

A repair fixes physical damage to the appliance. A reline updates the fitting surface to match changes in your gum and bone structure. Some patients need both.

Don’t wait
A cracked denture gets harder to fix over time.

The sooner a damaged denture is assessed, the better the chance of a successful repair. If your denture is cracked, broken, uncomfortable, or just doesn’t feel right — bring it in. In most cases, we can have you sorted the same day.
